Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8 or 10-hour shifts; occasional weekends as needed

Position Summary

We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Automotive Upfitter to join our team. This role is ideal for a hands-on professional who enjoys working on a variety of vehicle platforms, installing mission-critical equipment, and contributing to a collaborative shop environment. The right candidate is organized, dependable, and excited to learn new technologies within the emergency vehicle upfitting industry.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Install emergency warning lights, sirens, mobile radios, vehicle computers, equipment consoles, custom wiring harnesses, and other 12-volt electronic components.

• Drill, cut, mount brackets, and perform physical modifications to vehicles in support of proper equipment installation.

• Remove and reinstall OEM interior trim panels, seats, and dash components without damage.

• Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical and equipment-related issues.

• Continuously learn new equipment, installation techniques, and industry best practices.

• Assist with parts ordering, shipping/receiving, and inventory management as needed.

• Complete all job documentation, installation notes, and required paperwork accurately.

• Maintain a safe, organized, and clean work area, tools, and equipment.

• Support overall team goals by assisting with related tasks and projects as required.

 

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Working knowledge of 12-volt electrical systems.

• Ability to read, write, and visually distinguish wire colors.

• Ability to identify, test, and trace electrical circuits.

• Comfortable working with small components, tools, and in tight spaces.

• Basic computer literacy for documentation and equipment software.

• Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills.

• Self-motivated and able to work independently.

• Ability to bend, twist, squat, kneel, reach, and lift/move up to 50 lbs.

 

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with emergency vehicle lighting and equipment installation.

• Emergency Vehicle Technician (EVT) certification (not required but advantageous).

• Prior experience in automotive electronics, public safety equipment, or fleet upfitting.

 

Compensation & Benefits

Additional Requirements

• Must be able to work on-site at our Effingham, SC facility.

• Must be willing to relocate to the Florence/Effingham, SC area prior to start date.
